Creating A Modern MOT Testing Facility

The requirement was for a fully DVSA-compliant Automated Test Lane capable of handling larger vans and heavier vehicles with confidence. Careful consideration was given to workshop layout, vehicle flow and equipment positioning to ensure the finished installation delivered both compliance and operational efficiency.

At the centre of the new bay is a 5.7 metre Class 7 4-post ATL lift, engineered to accommodate heavier vehicles with stability and precision. The lift is equipped with integrated radius plates and play detectors, providing a robust and accurate foundation for inspections.

The ATL package also includes:

  • MTS connected brake tester for precise and reliable brake performance analysis
  • Combined petrol and diesel emissions analyser
  • Headlamp aligner for accurate beam setting
  • Class 7 approved 2.8 tonne jacking beam for under-vehicle inspection
  • Full ATL ancillary and compliance package including mirrors, wall charts, specialist tools and decelerometer equipment
