Impressive Results: Intelligent MOT Bay Design for Speed and Throughput

Completed at the start of January, MOT Base in Birmingham marks a successful transformation of an empty unit into a fully functioning MOT test centre. With no MOT lanes in place before Omar took on the building, the priority was to create a single, combined testing bay that maximised throughput while using the available workshop space intelligently.

Meeting Challenges with Innovation

Omar needed a practical MOT bay layout that would reduce wasted movement, support both Class 4 and Class 7 testing, and provide the correct equipment to operate confidently and compliantly from day one.

Delivering Practical Solutions

Working with our partners at Gemcal, we designed and installed a streamlined, space-efficient configuration using ATL equipment, built around a central brake testing position to keep vehicles moving:

To complete the DVSA-ready setup, we also supplied:

Along with our MOT test equipment, Gemcal also installed a compressor and air supply lines across the workshop. This marks a complete transformation of the unit, giving Omar everything he needs to be up and running smoothly.

Finished Results that Impress

The finished bay delivers a clean, logical test environment designed around speed and efficient vehicle flow. By positioning the roller brake tester centrally between the two ATL 4-post lifts and supplying a complete MOT equipment package, Omar now has a workshop designed to reduce downtime, improve turnaround, and make the most of the available footprint, ready to support consistent MOT throughput from the outset.

We wish Omar all the best for the future and thank him for choosing us for his garage equipment.
