MOT Bays – Case Study
Client: D F Naylor Limited
Location: Derbyshire
Product: Class 7 ATL Bay
V-Tech are pleased to announce that we have helped global multi-million-pound business, Serco after they invited us to tender for their latest workshop project. The business operates 11 workshops in and around the UK. They recently decided to combine two of their existing workshops into one to have one main site which caters for all types of commercial automotive services.
The two existing sites in Thetford and Dereham were equipped with a variety of commercial workshop equipment, which needed to be transported from both sites to the new main workshop in Watton, Norfolk. They also required additional workshop equipment which they didn’t have throughout the other two sites.
As leading garage equipment suppliers, we were able to supply Serco with premium quality workshop equipment for their new build. This included our BM20200 Commercial Mobile Brake Tester, Headlamp Aligner & Exhaust Extraction. We also arranged for a sub-contractor to assist with the transportation of the workshop equipment at their other sites and the full installation of their latest investments. This full installation also included full electrical services to the workshop and even provided top-quality resin pouring services to deliver a high finish epoxy floor.
We completed the whole project within 4 weeks from initial enquiry. During this time, we visited the site to understand the needs of the business, created a CAD drawing for the new workshop layout, appointed a sub-contractor to assist in the transportation of goods and the install of equipment, and project managed the entire project from start to finish.
Daniel Taylor-Webb, UK National Workshop Manager says “V-Tech have provided us with many services over past years. Overall, I am very happy with the service that V-Tech provides, no complaints and I hope that there will be many more to come!”
Do you have a workshop project coming up? Contact our V-Tech team today to find out more about how we can assist you and provide you with the very best quality garage equipment.

Bargeddie Auto Services – Case Study | MOT Bays Equipment
Investing in an MOT bay at a perfect time!
MOT Bays – Case Study
Client: Bargeddie Auto Services
Location: Glasgow
Product: BM 4010 & ATL MOT Bay (Class 4
We are pleased to announce that we have installed a full MOT Bay at Bargeddie Auto Services. Bargeddie Auto Services is an passenger workshop in Glasgow which are known to provide professional automotive services such as MOT’s, vehicle repairs and more.
Robert Mooney, Workshop Owner decided to invest in their own MOT bay from V-Tech, as the workshop was currently outsourcing this service to another local garage. The workshop themselves did not have the appropriate garage equipment to perform MOT tests in-house but now the garage has their own fully functioning bay to perform the legal service. By investing in their own MOT testing equipment, they will harvest more profit margin and can now offer complete vehicle services.
The workshop couldn’t have chosen a better time to become an MOT Test Centre as the demand for MOT’s is significantly high at the moment due to the Covid-19 mot extension regulations.
V-Tech were able to assist the workshop with the full MOT bay solution from the supply, right through to the installation as well as successfully and safely carrying out full in-depth training on the garage equipment. See below a full list of the MOT equipment which was successfully supplied and installed.
- 4 post OMA 4 tonne lift with play detectors
- OMA jacking beam
- 2401ukr headlight tester
- BM 4010 brake tester
- Opus 40/100 combi unit (gas and smoke)
- Mot tools board
- Turnkey instruments decelerometer
V-Tech offer a range of professional, high quality MOT bays and equipment. See below for a break down of all of the MOT configurations we offer.
Robert Mooney, Workshop Owner said ‘I was searching online for a full MOT bay for our workshop and came across V-Tech who were the cheapest for the equipment I needed. The whole process from me getting a quote to the equipment being delivered and installed was relatively quick and the team were really helpful. It’s good that they can install the equipment as well as supply it because normally I have to ring around to try and find someone who can fit it for me, so it saved a lot of time. I’ve already recommended V-Tech to other workshops’.
We offer various specifications to suit your workshop needs, along with flexible finance to suit your business circumstances.

Supporting You In Every Step Of The Process
V-Tech have made the process of becoming an MOT testing station easier. At present many businesses refer customers to other local garages because their workshop do not offer MOT testing . However, there are many downfalls to this. They lose customers, and revenue to competitors. As you probably know, there are a lot of regulations and hurdles to becoming a DVSA approved MOT testing station.
V-Tech can take the stress and pressure away from you, as we can assist you with the full MOT Bay project management from start to finish. Here’s how:
1.Initial enquiry comes into MOT professionals
Our team of MOT professionals deal with every MOT enquiry that comes into the office within a timely manner. With their years of expertise in this area, they can give you some of the best advice and options on what type of MOT Bay is best suited for your specific workshop space and design. At this stage our team will discuss the equipment in question and ensure that you are happy with the quote we have sent you. During this time, we will also speak to you about the flexible finance options if required. We’re proud to be able to offer many MOT configurations to suit your exact requirements.
2. In-depth site survey
The next step will be for our team to visit your premises to carry out an in-depth site survey. This allows us to take the relevant measurements to ensure your choice of MOT Bay will fit within your designated space. We’ll also create a realistic CAD drawing for you so you can really visualise what your MOT bay will look like within your workshop.
3. Assistance with VT01 application
All new MOT testing stations must be approved by the DVSA. We are unique in being able to assist with the DVSA VT01 application to achieve an Authorisation In Principle (AIP). This ensures that your garage is legally approved to be an MOT testing station.
4. Arrange groundworks / electrics
If necessary, our team can arrange any relevant groundworks that need to be done prior to installation of your MOT equipment. This includes groundworks for inspection pits, four post and scissor lifts, brake testers, and more. We can also arrange final electrical connections; however, this is subject to site surveys.
5. Arrange additional services
If for any reason you require additional services prior to your garage equipment being fitted, we can assist with this too. For example, if you need help arranging floor painting or air pipe work.
6. Professional installation of MOT equipment
Finally, once all prep work has been completed, we can arrange for our dedicated team of nationwide, GEA accredited Engineers to come to site and professionally install your full MOT Bay. We will also train your team on how best to use the equipment we have supplied to ensure that everyone is comfortable and confident using the equipment daily at your workshop.
7. Assistance with DVSA VT01 part D
Once your MOT equipment has been professionally fitted by our Garage Equipment Engineers, we will then assist you with the DVSA VT01 part D. We will assist with photographs, of the MOT Bay in situ and attach these photos and the relevant calibration certification and send back to the DVSA for their final approval and sign off.
8. On-going UK aftercare support and servicing
Once the DVSA are happy with the outcome of your MOT Bay installation you will officially become a DVSA approved MOT testing station. However, it’s important to ensure that you have a service plan in place. At V-Tech we can arrange a suitable service plan for you to assist with regular servicing, preventative maintenance, calibrations, emergency breakdowns and more.
Speak to our dedicated MOT professionals to discuss further.
